I have tried to work out and have failed many times.
I have tried
—walking 10 miles a day and eating a 900-1200 calorie diet–> I lost weight but when i went back to school I didn’t have enough time to do it– I basically had no fun or social life and it became really boring after a month. Could not sustain for more than a month. Would gain the weight back afterwards.
— atkins diet –> I also lost weight on this diet however it was really expensive to live of off lean meat. I learned that I need to have chocolate everyday- and i would have an atkins bar everyday. However, eating mostly meat has some unpleasant consequences….
—chocolate bar diet–>this wasn’t on purpose but when I was in high school I would be so busy studying for finals that I would not have time to cook or eat proper foods. My mom cooked dinner for me but breakfast and lunch were chocolate bars. I lost weight and became sick of chocolate for a month. Probably not a healthy diet to stay on anyways- but I learned that eating chocolate does satisfy me- especially if it is dark chocolate. I also learned that I eat to avoid doing chores that I don’t like and I also eat when I’m bored. So i guess I should spend more time playing video games to distract me.
—tried alli–>too exspensive– did not loose weight—too much focus on low fat diet— I noticed that when i eat low fat diet I don’t feel as good. Strange because if my mom or brother eat a lot of fat- they feel sick.
—rainbow diet- the focus on this one was not to loose wieght but to eat healthier. It encourages you to eat 1 red , 1 orange, 1 yellow, 1 grean, 1 blue, 1 purple and 1 white fruit/veggy. I love eating veggies so it was good for me. It helped me to discover using frozen veggies more. I live in a hot climate and veggies and fruit go bad really quickly. Frozen last long and requires less work to cook. Just put in on a plate and microwave for a few minutes. It also encourages me to eat more salads.I should try making a salad base and some topping so I can make salads quickly.
–P90x–a good workout system. I like the plyometrics and the weight lifting. I now can do 25 pushup. Before, I couldn’t do 5. It gave me the structure I needed for a work out. I also like how it is balanced. Weight lifting 3x a week, aerobics 2x a week, and 2 stretch days. The diet is also very nice. However, each workout was too long. Also the abs work out was too frequent for me. It would take me days to recover. I also hated Yoga X- it was too long and repetitive. I tried to stick to the plan for 4 months. I ended up only working out 2-3 times a week. So I would keep the weight lifting routine but shorten them to 1/2 an hour and only do the abs work out 1-2 a week. I would also drop Yoga X and replace it with a different yoga video. I would also drop Kempo X and replace it with Taebo. Later one, I guess I increase the time I spend on weight lifting.
–Gym workout– I felt soo lost in the gym. I would sorta wander around do a few sets. wander around. It was very inefficient. It was also boring. I need a dynamic workout. P90x was a great substitute for going to the gym.
—Running- I could never get myself to stick to a running program. I would used to go to “runners world”, print out a workout plan to run a 5K in 9 weeks or something like that. Running was very boring and I had trouble getting myself to stick to it. I did try running in the woods to make things more interesting- but the bugs became pretty bad. I also discovered that I like walking and running at night best. I tried running in the morning. Morning work out where miserable. I tended to get hurt easier. Early workouts also made me grumpy for the rest of the day. However, I would get the work outs done more often.
–Work outs at night– I would usually put off working out until late at night. Then I would be tired and I would go to bed even later. I usually feel better when I work out at night. However, it makes me go to bed later
–Work outs right after work– was great when I got out of work at 5 or 6. I now get out of work at 7:30pm. Too dark in the winter to work out.
—8 minutes in the morning– could never stick to the diet and I never lost weight on the program. However, I did like the daily motivation in the book. It helped me to focus. It helped keep me motivated when I was doing the 10 miles a day phase.
— trip to colorado-hiked 10 miles a day. went grocery shopping every day for a small amount of food that would last one day. Lost over 3 pounds in a week and I wasn’t starving and tired all the time. Learned, go hiking during vacations for exercise. I should go to the grocery store to buy food that i’m going to eat that day.
—making small changes. I tried to make 3 small changes a week. For example: going to be at 10pm, going on a small walk for 20 minutes. I ended up not being able to stick to that for more than a week. I posted on facebook, but it didn’t motivate me to stick. Failed in front of everyone.

Okay so here is my plan.
1. Record what I eat and what work outs I do. Use buddy slim for motivation.
2. Aim for burning 750 calories per day (i’m not going to focus on burning calories instead of eating a certain amount- so the days i eat more i just work out more). Use the rainbow diet. Focus on protein and vegetables. Buy dark chocolate for cravings. Eat 0-2 servings of bread per day. Eat 1 cup of red (tomatoes, strawberries, and other berries), Orange (carrots, sweet potatoes, orange squashes), yellow (peppers, corn, banana, squash), green (seaweed, lettuce, kale, spinach), blue (blueberries), purple (berries, beets, eggplant), white (garlic, onions).
2. Do one set for all the workout for weight lifting 30 minutes 3x a week. Complete a yoga workout once a week. Use taobo, plyometrics, zumba on other days. Sign up for ultimate Frisbee or some other free active club. If I do more than 30 minutes. Great, but I’m not going to force more than 30 minutes out of myself. I want work out to be fun.
3. Walk the puppy once a day at night (not included in the 30 minutes) walk 1.25 miles. This will also cause me to go the bed earlier.
4. Make Friday my video game day. This is my day off from work and cleaning the house.
